Tips for Parents

There are many ways you can help your child use technology. If you are connected to the Internet try the sites listed in the Homework Helpers section.

If you have a computer at home, have your child explore in the word processing program you have. If you need to have a question answered, there is a help feature on most programs.

Don't be afraid to try something new! Children are very good at experimenting on the computer. You can always quit out of a program without saving changes and nothing will be affected.

When selecting software, try going to the web site of the company or going to a store that carries computer software. Try the program out yourself or have your child try it. You can get some great software fairly cheap at discount stores, too. (Caution: You might not be able to preview it before you buy it!)
