A great idea for the new school year
is to develop good study habits at the beginning of the year. After
looking at your child's daily schedule, a study time should be scheduled
for each afternoon or evening. Most children study best in a special
area away from distractions; it's a good idea to keep school supplies in
this area. Be sure to check your child's planner each night for the
first few weeks (and longer, if needed) to see that he/she has completed
all necessary work.
If there is no particular homework on a certain evening, encourage your child to read a book for a few minutes, look at a newspaper article or two, or write a couple paragraphs about something that happened that day. Be certain to praise your child for a good start to the new school year.
