Lessons

Lessons in the library are all about the best books and the best websites and how to find them.  Lessons are about how to choose a book for yourself.  Lessons are about listening when you are not talking, about talking while others listen.  Lessons are what we do when we’re telling stories, reading aloud, drawing pictures, listening to tapes, writing stories, keeping our books in order so we can find them later, and looking up information  in books, databases and on the WEB.

Students visit the library once a week as a class and spend 40-50 minutes.  I will read aloud to the children for a part of every class visit to the library.  The remainder of the time they may choose to read books, listen to a book on tape, or work as a group.  The library is not a quiet place these days.
